Florida Day Trips: Florida Southern College

I love Florida Southern College in Lakeland for sentimental reasons... it's my (awesome) alma mater! Aside from being an academic institution though, it also makes a great day trip for architecture and photography buffs.  An architectural treasure right here in central Florida, The Florida Southern campus is the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright's work.  It was even named the nation's "Most Beautiful Campus" by the Princeton Review!

Florida Day Trips: Leu Gardens

One of the perks of living in Central Florida is the doable-day-trip proximity of so many fun things to do.  About an hour away from my house is one of these great options, the Harry P Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida.  I got to visit for the first time not too long ago and I was super surprised to find this 50 acre garden oasis right in the heart of Orlando.

Leu Gardens include a visitor center and gift shop, The Leu House Museum, Art at Leu Gardens (sculptures throughout the Gardens), a gazebo, a graveyard, a cottage, and, of course, acres of gardens, including citrus, herbs, roses, bamboo, oak trees, magnolias, and lots of lots of camellias.
